Somerville Workers Center

Taking On The Mission of Protecting Immigrant Workers

Our mission is to ensure that all residents achieve their hard-earned wages and return home safe and well. We help workers achieve their labor rights through education, worker leadership, and assistance in navigating the legal rights process.

The Somerville Workers Center is a program of The Welcome Project, in collaboration with MassCOSH and the Brazilian Worker Center. This program is funded by the City of Somerville's Job Creation and Retention Trust.

Know Your Rights Training

Understanding your position in the workplace keeps you safe and prevents other from taking advantage of your labor. Whether it is workplace harassment, threats related to your residency status, or having your wages withheld for illegal reasons, there are range of topics around which our Center offers programming.

Wage Theft Advisory Committee to the Somerville City Council

SWC serves as the main facilitator of the bi-monthly meetings of the Committee, which was founded by the City in 2019 to address the pervasive abuse of immigrant labor.

Interested in trainings? Want to report an instance of workplace abuse?

The Somerville Workers Center is always ready and willing to help.
