Intercultural City Award
Sonia Conde
Sonia Conde works at the Somerville Office of Housing Stability (OHS) and is a volunteer coordinator with Padres Latinos de SPS, which she founded in 2021 after seeing the disparities that Latino parents experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic and school closures. Nominated by her State Representative and State Senator, Sonia Conde received a 2024 Commonwealth Heroine Award at the Massachusetts Statehouse, recognizing women who make outstanding contributions to their communities. She is a trained physician and is currently working in the housing field assisting Somerville residents who are facing eviction, are behind on rent, or experiencing other housing instability. She is bilingual and originally from Peru. She moved to Somerville in 2012.

Dr. Geralde Gabeau
Dr. Geralde Gabeau is a well-respected Haitian leader in Massachusetts with over 20 years of experience working with the Boston immigrant community. She earned a Doctoral Degree in Strategic Foresight from Regent University, and graduate degrees in Public Health from Boston University and Management from Cambridge College. As the Founder and Executive Director of the Immigrant Families Services Institute (IFSI-USA), Dr. Gabeau has focused on immigrant integration by building and implementing programs and services that directly serve and empower Haitian immigrants. The Immigrant Families Services Institute (IFSI-USA) mission is to center the voices of Haitian migrants and expedite their successful integration into the social and economic fabric of the United States with justice and dignity. IFSI provides wellness, legal services, educational and career pathways, youth programming, and advocacy.
