The Welcome Project presents the launch of our
Our community immigration quilt is meant to serve as a visual representation of our own or our families’ journeys to the US and the stories that tie us all together. Through this project, we invite community members to tell us what immigration means to them and create a patch to include in our quilt. Whether you are an immigrant yourself, come from an immigrant family or are an ally, we invite you to participate in our project and tell us your story. Below, we have attached a guide to help you, your friends, and family create a patchwork of your own. If needed, we will have cloth available in our offices. Feel free to call with any questions (617) 623-6633.
We officially launched our immigration quilt during our International Migrants Day celebration on Tuesday, December 18th. Students from our ESOL and Liaison Interpreters Program of Somerville (LIPS) shared their immigration stories with Somerville community members. Below are some pictures from our launch and some quilt patches from students in our programs. We hope you are inspired by their artwork.
